The Russian-based punk band / protest group, Pussy Riot, has claimed responsibility for the actions of four people who ran onto the field and disrupted the World Cup finals.

During minute 00:52 of the match, four people clad in old-fashioned police uniforms stormed the field before getting tackled to the ground by event stewards. It is unknown if the attire was a commentary on the current political climate or just a way to bring additional attention to their group.

The super-controversial female rock act have produced such songs as “Police State” and “Make America Great Again” and are known for radical demonstrations in public, bashing their government through their music in order to incite political and social change. They recently issued a list of demands to the Russian government via Twitter today, which included the freeing of political prisoners, ending “illegal arrests at protests” and making changes which “allow political competition in the country.”
