Legendary funk, pop, and rock icon Prince, real name Prince Rogers Nelson, died today at his Minnesota Paisley Park estate, TMZ reports. He was 57. According to reports, authorities responded to a medical emergency at Prince’s home on Thursday morning.
Last week, on April 15, Prince was hospitalized with the flu in Moline, Illinois, after his private jet made an emergency landing following a show in Atlanta. A spokesman told TMZ at the time that Prince had been battling the flu.
Prince’s publicist also confirmed that he died to the Associated Press. More to follow as this tragic story develops.
