Rocking a bedazzled bomber jacket and a bejeweled western-style belt, the Texas-raised rapper introduced himself as Austin Richard Post (his real name) and sweetly called out his mom, who was also in the crowd. He then launched into renditions of “Zack and Codeine” from 2018’s Republic Records-released Beerbongs & Bentleys before pleasing fans with hits like “Wow.,” “Rockstar,” “Psycho,” “Over Now” (which resulted in lots of headbanging), “Better Now,” “Goodbyes,” “Sunflower,” “Stay,” and “White Iverson.”
A big highlight of the night was when Malone exclusively debuted his new song “Circles,” that he confirmed will be released next week. “I get to perform for the first fucking time, a song off the new album,” he announced. “It’s a little fucking different, it’s got a fucking fat groove, and I can’t wait for y’all to hear it!” He wasn’t lying, as the song, backed by sunny acoustic guitars, swirling percussion and infectious melodies, did indeed have a fat groove. He followed up the exhibition with an important announcement regarding his upcoming project: “My third album will be coming out in September. I worked really fucking hard on it and I think you guys are gonna like it very, very, very much.”
Get ready for “Circles” to drop next week.
