Like many of his musical counterparts, Post Malone continues to diversify and expand and diversify his entertainment portfolio. Following his recent wine venture, the Republic Records artist has invested in Envy Gaming, the Texas-based e-sports organization with namesake teams in such popular titles as Overwatch, Call of Duty, and Counter Strike.
Announcing the move ahead of the Call of Duty league playoffs (which Envy ended up winning), the new-co-owner issued the following statement: “I grew up in Texas and I’ve been gaming my whole life, so this just really felt right. I have always wanted to be a part of bringing gaming into the professional sports world so to be involved with what Envy is doing in my hometown feels like such a perfect fit.”
Though it remains unclear as to what portion of the team Post Malone controls, the latest move by the 25-year-old comes as no surprise given his track record with the streaming platform Twitch and long standing affinity for video games. Envy Gaming CEO Adam Rymer hopes to involve Post in the organization’s decision making process and looks forward to exploring initiatives that might bring the two brands closer together over time.
