Rihanna made a guest appearance joining Paul McCartney onstage at the Desert Trip festival to perform their Kanye West collaboration “FourFiveSeconds.”
The Banjan singer surprised the crowd when she came out to the ex Beatle’s headlining set on the festival’s inaugural run. Their duet marks the first time they performed the song since they performed it with West at the Grammys in 2015.
“So we played you the oldest song we ever recorded. And now we’d like to play the most recent one–the newest song from just last year. To help us do this tonight, we have someone really special who’s come along. Introduced to you, the empress of Barbados–Rihanna!”
Desert Sun reports that Desert Trip was organized to gather some of rock’s living legends to all play on the same stage. Consisting of two back-to-back weekends, this marks the second time the groups performed together.
“We finally found someone under the age of 50,” McCartney said jokingly, a nod to the festival’s lineup which includes Bob Dylan, The Who, and Rolling Stones.
“FourFiveSeconds” was released on January 24, 2015 through Roc Nation and Westbury Road. The song reached No. 4 on Billboard as well as went double platinum in the US. Check out the performance above.
