“Drivers License” hitmaker Olivia Rodrigo caused quite the stir this past weekend when the young artist wiped all of her Instagram posts. In response to the social media disappearance, fans of the artist demanded an explanation, with some assuming that it was a build-up to a new project. Now, listeners know what the 18-year-old has been up to.
Released Thursday morning, Rodrigo’s latest track, “deja vu,” details the suspicion that one’s ex is now doing everything that made their relationship special… with someone else! The super-successful singer recounts these memories over a twinkling piano when she sings “Car rides to Malibu / Strawberry ice cream / One spoon for two / And trading jackets / Laughing ’bout how small it looks on you.” Though the message is similar to her prior #1 Billboard charting “Drivers License,” the backing track to her new offering takes on a slightly more exciting personality with the use of heavier percussion.
Along with her release comes the announcement that Olivia’s debut album is slated to arrive May 21st and until then, watch and listen to “deja vu”.
