For months now the EDM community has been at the forefront of adapting to new conditions created by the Corona Virus pandemic and one man who’s risen to the occasion with his live streams performances is Oliver Heldens.
Having previously programmed sets from the back of a boat that featured his recent RCA Records-released remix of “The Other Side” by Justin Timberlake and SZA and his solo effort, “Details” with Boy Matthews, the Dutch DJ/producer took a more formal approach to his latest stream as the Heldeep maestro performed a very special set from inside The Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. While no one but Heldens and his crew allowed into the space (per social distancing restrictions) he lit up the empty venue with signature tracks and high level remixes like his version of the Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris hit “One Kiss.”
The entire extraordinary exhibition was a lesson in juxtaposition as dance music is not normally played in orchestral halls nor do deejays take to the decks donned in tuxedos. During the second half of the set Heldens transformed into his HI-LO alias to drop a series of new IDs such as “Zeus” that pumped a range of dark techno productions into the barren arena. Listen to and watch the stellar performance below.
