In February 2012, CHIC frontman Nile Rodgers announced that he was collaborating with EDM powerhouse Daft Punk for their latest album. True to his word, Rodgers was featured on Daft Punk’s chart-topping album Random Access Memories. Rodgers co-wrote and played guitar on 3 tracks: “Give Life Back to Music”, “Lose Yourself to Dance”, and “Get Lucky”. On May 4th, 2013 “Get Lucky” debuted at #5 on the Billboard Dance chart. On May 25th, the infectious hit had reached the #2* position and its peak position of #1* was solidified during the week ending of June 1st, remaining on top for 13 weeks.
Since then Rodgers has made an extraordinary resurgence back to millennial pop culture. PRO MOTION founder Brad LeBeau sat down with the Grammy awarding winning performer, producer, and songwriter to talk about CHIC’s new Billboard Dance #1* “I’ll Be There”, his cancer diagnosis, and the creation of 6x Platinum smash “Get Lucky”.
