Nicky Romero’s Label Releases Track that Mimics ‘Greyhound’

Founded in 2012, Nicky Romero’s imprint Protocol Recordings has earned quite the respected reputation and is extremely selective when it comes to what is released through his brand.

One of the label’s latest offerings is a collaboration between three upcoming producers, John Christian, Arin Tone and Corey James on a song called ‘Collage’. Notwithstanding the name of the artist and title, however, the ‘new’ composition’s structure and synth and melody lines sound more like  a melange of Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Greyhound’ than a truly original production. The former SHM single was a cross-breed monster that was embraced as much by radio programmers as it was festival circuit attendees.

With an already available over-abundance of international dance music, producing something truly original becomes increasing difficult. Nonetheless, there is a significant difference between ‘drawing inspiration’ and ‘plagarizing’ someone else’s original work.

Listen carefully to both songs and YOU be the judge!
