For the first time in history, the MTV Music Video Awards will take place in Madison Square Garden. Just yesterday (April 21) MTV announced it will be airing its annual Video Music Awards for the first time in its 33-year history at the legendary arena in New York City. And while the big apple has hosted the awards show in the past, this is the first time the ceremony will take place at a venue of such grand scale. Starting in 1984, MTV debuted the VMAs at Radio City Music Hall, where the empire state has hosted 14 more times since then. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio even commented on the matter, stating his opinion:

“We are excited that MTV will bring the VMAs back to its original home of New York City. From the red carpet to the accolades to the performances — and everything in between — the VMAs are an incredible showcase for so many talented artists. It also goes without saying that hosting the awards in our city means a boost to our small businesses and restaurants and more jobs for the thousands of crew members who work to bring the show into homes around the world.”

The MTV Video Music Awards will take place at MSG on Sunday, August 28, 2016. No official host or a list of nominees has been confirmed as of yet, so please check back often for more updates and be sure to let us know who you want to win.
