Epic Records‘ recording artist, Meghan Trainor is no stranger to the struggles of anxiety and depression, but she surprisingly found help from the words of Carson Daly, who also suffers from Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

Trainor’s anxiety stems from a vocal cord issue earlier this year that triggered a long battle with the two afflictions. But in March when she heard Carson Daly talking about his own struggle, she could instantly relate admitting, “He’ll never know how much his video helped me — and my family. I played that for them and I was like, ‘That’s how I was feeling.’ I just couldn’t say it. It’s hard to explain.”

During the segment the “All About That Bass” singer referred to Carson opening up about his challenges with anxiety and panic attacks that dated back to (his) childhood. By the time he was hosting MTV’s Total Request Live in the late 1990s, his anxiety was causing him major hardships including visit a hospital after one particularly brutal anxiety-related episode to make sure he wasn’t having a heart attack. “You feel like you’re dying,” he said.

Thankfully, the two were able to meet up at an event where Trainor expressed her gratitude to the show host saying, “You don’t know what you’ve done for me, but it was amazing!”
