Despite the vast majority of pandemic related shut downs Matoma gets a head-start on Summer with the release of his new six-track EP full of feel good dance titles. RYTME (Norwegian for “rhythm”) is the artist’s first collection since 2018 and well worth the wait.
The Big Beat Records-released effort is anything but a quick solo effort as every track has a featured musician that adds to the mix. The musical festivities open with “The Bender,” an interpolation of Earth, Wind & Fire’s well-known “September” courtesy of Brando, who listeners may recognize from the mega-hit “Body” with Loud Luxury. Singer-songwriter Anna Clendening, whose solo track “Boys Like You” has racked up serious plays, assists on “Let It Go.” Robin Schulz collaborator Alida closes out RYTME, but not before Captain Cuts and Georgia Ku lend their talents to “Beside You.” Check out the newest from Matoma below.
Matoma’s come a long way since his humble beginnings learning classical piano as a child. After growing tired of the black and white keys he turned to mixing on his computer where we earned a bachelor’s degree in Music Technology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. From there, the rest is history, having created a litany of hits along the way to international stardom.
