Martin Garrix and Khalid recently announced that they were collaborating on a song and decided to release the cover artwork for the track. The vibe of the artwork and Khalid’s admission that this was indeed a “dance track” created the kind of hype that surrounds most of Garrix’ creations.
“Ocean” turned out to be more of a Khalid-centric track and not something along the lines of his previous collab with Marshmello, “Silence.” While not a bad thing, it is a different song than was expected and can be seen as Martin Garrix exploring beyond the mainstage bangers that he is used to writing. For Instance, the drop features more acoustic elements like guitar, strings, and subtle percussion than heavy-hitting bass.
Listen to the interesting concoction that is “Ocean” below.
