DJ Mag announced its list of the Top 100 DJs yesterday (Oct. 20), with Martin Garrix sitting at the No. 1 spot. The award was presented to him last night at a ceremony and show in Amsterdam.
The Dutch producer started his career in 2012 when he first signed on to Spinnin’ Records before achieving breakout success with his hit single “Animals.”
Now in 2016, Garrix has his own label STMPD RCRDS along with new single “In The Name of Love,” a collaboration with Bebe Rexha and a debut album on the way. He recently gave a press release and thanked everyone for their support.
“It feels unreal to have won. I 100 percent did not expect it at all. I’ve had an amazing year, with awesome shows and amazing fans — I’m so thankful for their support. I didn’t even do a campaign, and it just shows how dope the fanbase is.”
Other artists on the list include former No. 1 DJs Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike at No. 2, cake throwing enthusiast Steve Aoki at No. 7 and former pop-punk singer Skrillex at No. 9.
