The initial search to find artists who were willing to perform at this year’s Super Bowl has been difficult, with Rihanna and Cardi B refusing to play unless something was done about the Kaepernick/kneeling situation, but the search committee has not only found Maroon 5 to fill the halftime slot, but now has Travis Scott as support.
The move comes as Scott wraps his biggest year yet, with his Astroworld Tour selling out marquee venues like Madison Square Garden in New York and the Forum in Los Angeles. In addition, his album by the same name topped the Billboard 200 chart, while his wildly-hyped single “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake topped the Billboard Hot 100. The Texas native also had the joy of welcoming a daughter into the world with Kylie Jenner.
The mixture of Grammy-nominated Maroon 5’s rock/pop sound and Travis Scott’s dark trap is an unlikely blend, but the two acts should provide an interesting array of music for fans with different tastes on Sunday, February 3rd.
