“Shallow,” the touching duet performed by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born, won best original song at the 2019 Golden Globes. The coveted award was presented to the song’s writers, included the “Born This Way” author, herself, production-savant Mark Ronson, along with Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt.
“[Bradley Cooper] took our heartfelt honest tune and gave it emotional resonance we could have only dreamed of,” the “Electricity” co-collaborator said while receiving the trophy alongside Gaga. Then, shining the light on her, he humbly said, “You’re the one who led us into the deep waters and made the song what it is.”
“Shallow” faced fierce competition against the other nominees in this category, including “All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA from the mega-blockbuster, Black Panther; “Girl in the Movies” by Dolly Parton from Dumplin’; “Requiem for a Private War” by Annie Lennox from A Private War; and “Revelation” by Troye Sivan and Jónsi from Boy Erased.
