Like many a musician, artist and content creator flocking to streaming services during the COVID-19 pandemic Mark Ronson has contributed to the creative class with his “Love Lockdown” video mixtape.
Recruiting a laundry list of well-known talents to appear in the 90-minute broadcast, including DJs A-Trak, Afro B, D-Nice, Disclosure, Jax Jones, Lil Jon, and Peggy Gou and pop stars like Troye Sivan, Miley Cyrus, Robyn, Tame Impala and recent “Electricity” collaborator Dua Lipa, the London native YouTube’d his star-studded set of hits. As is customary during these times of social distancing and shelter-in-place, contributors submitted thwir individual clips that were subseqently spliced together into one seamless stream.
The “Uptown Funk” artist/producer’s collaborative effort was made to “create something joyful and special and give us all the opportunity to #stayhome but still dance together.” And, in a partnership with Google, for every $1 donated in connection with the visual, Google.org will donate $2 (up to $5 million total) towards the fundraiser benefitting the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (through the UN Foundation) until June 30th. ThUS far, the initiative has raised over $4,600,000 en route to their goal of $7,500,000. Check out Mark Ronson’s “Love Lockdown” video mixtape stream here.
