Following the longstanding dispute between Lil Wayne and Birdman/Cash Money Records that was settled last month, Lil Wayne is now free to release Tha Carter V under his own terms. Due to issues between Weezy and Cash Money, the album, which has been finished since 2014 and will be Wayne’s first Carter release in seven years, was held captive until now.

During a recent club appearance in Miami, the New Orleans native provided an update about the project’s impending release when he said “Just to let y’all know I had a meeting today, it wasn’t a long meeting. Just so y’all know the meeting was about the release date of Tha Carter-fucking-V.”

While little else has been revealed about the album or it’s release date, the Universal Records project could possibly see the light of day before the end of 2018. Watch the video of Lil Wayne’s announcement below.
