Last night (June 13) Lady Gaga attended the Los Angeles vigil where she took the stage to read the names of each victim in the Orlando shooting.
Despite the somber mood, Lady Gaga felt comforted knowing that those in attendance were all in solidarity with the victims and their families. In a post on Instagram, she shared her feelings on that night.
“I saw the fear and sadness in the faces of so many, but I felt comfort knowing there are millions all over the world who are not only part of the LGBT community, but are part of the straight community and so impassioned by this tragedy. You are not alone.”
She gave a brief yet moving speech before reading out the names of all the victims whose lives were taken away that night, fighting back tears as she proceeded. Watch the speech in its entirety below.
“Like all prejudicial crimes, this is an attack on humanity itself,” she said. “This is an attack on everyone. Tonight I gather humbly with you, as a human being, in peace and sincerity, in commitment and solidarity, to take a real moment and mourn the tragic loss of these innocent, beautiful people.”
