Having already dabbled in futuristic imagery during the rollout for her most recent Interscope Records-released album Chromatica, Lady Gaga dives head-first back into virtual reality with the visual for “Sour Candy.”

Set in a brightly-colored and surreal digital landscape, the lyric video places the viewer inside a virtual-reality headset, with bilingual lines from Lady Gaga and the Blackpink singers flashing, Matrix-style, across the upper left-hand corner of the screen. As the song progresses, a group of floating abstract creatures interact and fight with each other for dominance. While there is no corresponding video game for the song or the album as of yet, fans can get a taste of the concept with exclusive “Sour Candy”-themed merch, or via the video below.

Originally delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Chromatica was released on May 29th with features from Skrillex, Bloodpop, Axwell, Madeon, Tchami, Elton John and more. Check out the Ariana Grande collaboration here.
