Norwegian super-producer Kygo has become one of the most recognizable electronic acts in the world. He accrued more than a billion streams on Spotify with his infectious single “Firestone,” headlined the most prominent international festivals including Tomorrowland, and today the tropical wonder-child has unveiled his highly anticipated debut album Cloud Nine on RCA Records.
During Kygo’s Cloud Nine roll-out his fans immediately recognized a departure from his signature trop sound and move into more pop-sensibility. Album cuts “Stole The Show,” “Fragile,” and “Raging” – each foreshadowed what was to come on Kygo’s debut album.
Cloud Nine features a mass of ambient melodic elements and lush piano progressions via 15 electronic pop hyrbids. While “Firestone” and “Stole the Show” are still two of the strongest pieces on the LP, “Fiction” with Tom Odell, “Happy Birthday” with John Legend, and “Oasis” with Foxes are sure contenders for the radio airwaves this coming summer.
