After sharing that his anticipated sophomore effort would arrive in April, Khalid made it official on Thursday (February 28th), announcing that Free Spirit would be released April 5th.

Free Spirit the album Drops on April 5th Make sure to pre-order on March 7th,” he tweeted. In February, the 21-year-old sensation kicked off the project’s rollout with the release of the Disclosure-assisted “Talk.” That first peek courtesy of RCA Records was created with a classic, early 2000’s R&B vibe with the “Location” vocalist singing, “I’ve never felt like this before/I apologize if I’m movin’ too far/Can’t we just talk? Can’t we just talk?/Figure out where we’re goin.”

The collection will also be prefaced by his Free Spirit short film, directed by the British Emil Nava. The video is scheduled to hit theaters for only 24 hours on April 3rd. “I’m no actor, but honestly, shooting for Free Spirit was so much fun and stepping out of my comfort zone inspired me A LOT. I’m so anxious and excited it’s killing me,” Khalid wrote to Instagram. Check out the Georgia native’s official album announcement below.
