As Kanye West continues his path to enlightenment, his next step is to perform at the same event alongside others who are not-so-friendly to the LGBTQ+ community.
It was announced this week that West would be headlining Awaken 2020, an Evangelical prayer rally. The rapper will be joining the conference to deliver a special performance (the content of which has yet to be determined) alongside his famous Sunday Service gospel choir at the event to take place at Sun Devil Stadium in Phoenix on Saturday. Watch the rousing unveiling here.
Appearing at the same event will be the likes of pastor Guillermo Maldonado whose said in the past that same-sex relationships are “clearly prohibited by God,” and that they invite “unclean spirits into our lives” and Lou Engle, who was noted by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a “zealous opponent of … LGBT rights.”
According to Awaken 2020’s official website, the gathering is calling on its participants “to be part of the Jesus awakening that is shifting HISTORY. Open the door and enter into a new era, a new decade, of revival that is bringing a movement of signs and wonders, healing of the sick, and preaching of the gospel.”
