In the wake of George Floyd’s tragic and senseless death at the hands of Minnesota police officers, artists and civilians alike have taken to social media to voice their concerns and donate financial support for the fight against police brutality and systemic racism.

Up until now, Kanye West has remained silent donating $2 million to charities associated with Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd and the rap music visionary has also pledged to cover legal costs for the Arbery and Taylor families in their fights for justice. In his hometown of Chicago, West will aid black-owned businesses with financial contributions and the 42-year-old has set up a college fund to cover tuition for Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter Gianna.

Over the past several years Kanye has come under fire for his support of Donald Trump and meeting with the President on multiple occasions yet one cannot deny his recent commitment to fighting alongside those in need and giving back to the community.
