Justin Bieber paid tribute to late singer Christina Grimmie at his show in Winnipeg last night. Both he and his old flame Selena Gomez were very close to the singer, with the latter being very close friends her. Lying on his back on stage, Bieber sang “Purpose,” while shouting “Grimmie, can you hear me?” before wiping tears away.

Recently, Selena Gomez also gave a moving tribute to Grimmie, dedicating her performance of Hillsong Worship’s “Transfiguration” to her late friend. Her stepfather Brian Teefey was a close friend and her manager, having signed the Voice alum when she was just 14 years old. He set up a GoFundMe donating all proceeds to Grimmie’s family and has reached over $200,000 in donations.
Christina Grimmie was fatally shot during an autograph signing session after her show in Orlando, Florida on June 10. Along with Bieber and Gomez, Voice coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton echoed their sentiments on social media. Watch Justin’s performance above.
