JAY-Z is the next guest set to appear on David Letterman’s new Netflix series on April 6th.
In a previously released clip, the Brooklyn rapper spoke on the attributes that make fellow rappers Snoop Dogg and Eminem such compelling artists. Now, another clip from the upcoming interview has been revealed, in which he discusses his mother Gloria Carter and her coming out as a lesbian.
“I mean, I really cried. That’s a real story. I cried because I was so happy for her that she was free,” he said. JAY also states he knew that his mother was gay, but their first conversation on the subject didn’t occur until he was in the process of making 4:44.
On album track “Smile,” Hov talks about his joy at his mother’s public coming out as gay and falling in love with another woman in one of the album’s most genuine moments. In the latest trailer for My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, JAY elaborates on that joy he felt even further.
