Janelle Monáe is back!
The multi-talent has announced a new album: It’s called Dirty Computer and will mark her first album since 2013’s The Electric Lady. Monáe has shared the first online teaser for the project, in which she stars alongside Tessa Thompson and others. Watch it below.
The announcement was accompanied by a incredibly executed minitrailer, which is just 30 seconds long. “They drained us of our dirt and all the things that made us special,” a voice-over intones, as we catch glimpses of two people on a beach, Monáe on an exam table, and a group of people riding in a convertible while wearing giraffe masks. “And then you were lost, sleeping, and you didn’t remember anything at all.”
While a release date has not been set for the album, the trailer for the project will air in select theaters before screenings of Marvel’s newest blockbuster Black Panther, which is now showing. (She’s calling the project an “emotion picture.”)
