Janelle Monáe‘s album Dirty Computer was an eclectic mix of sounds and ideas that drew influence from a variety of concepts. And she brought that same mindset to the 18th annual BET Awards held at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California on June 24th, 2018.

The artist who was nominated for the Her Award performed a medley of “Django Jane” and “I Like That” for the audience and the likes of Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar and others. Monáe started rhyming through “Django Jane” from a throne, a familiar image lifted from the captivating music video for the track, except her surrounding dancers were clad in black and white.

She quickly launched into “I Like That” which brought some pop balance to the performance and sat among her dancers throughout the empowering single. Watch the video of her performing “Django Jane” and “I Like That” below (released on Atlantic Records.)
