In celebration of the wildly-popular Amy Winehouse single, “Back to Black,” the Grammy Museum will be hosting an Instagram Live event that will serve as a virtual extension of the Los Angeles venue’s Beyond Black — The Style of Amy Winehouse exhibit, which opened in January.
Featured within the Eve Barlow-hosted show (airing today from 2 to 3 PM PST) will be interviews with Winehouse’s stylist Naomi Parry and close friend Catriona Gourlay. In addition, the teen sensation JoJo will also look back on Winehouse’s influence on her music in advance of her own, highly-anticipated album release this Friday (May 1st). For those unable to attend the original stream made available via the Grammy Museum’s official Instagram account, the broadcast will be accessible on their website until May 1st.
The complete Beyond Black showcase was originally set to run through April, but, like the museum itself, it had to close prematurely due to the Corona Virus pandemic and nationwide lockdown measures that have forced all non-essential businesses to close. Adapting to the climate, the Grammy Museum is making many of their offerings available online, including educational programs and live conversations with musicians and industry leaders. Other current exhibits include Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra and Los Angeles’ punk scene.
