On Saturday (Sept. 24) Central Park’s Great Lawn played host to more than 60,000 people for the Global Citizen Festival. The annual music festival curated by Coldplay front man Chris Martin, brings together some of music’s biggest talents to reward the tens of thousands of volunteers who seek to end extreme poverty across the globe by 2030.

The event, in its fifth year, featured a stacked lineup with some of biggest names in music, including Metallica, Usher, Major Lazer, Demi Lovato, Kendrick Lamar, and of course Rihanna. Chris Martin also took the stage for a special duet with Peal Jam’s Eddie Vedder, who also delivered a heartfelt speech about the current state of affairs around the world.

In addition to the star studded music lineup, Hollywood stars, world leaders and dignitaries, activists, and humanitarians also took the stage to show thier support to call world leaders to show financial commitments to cease global poverty.

US Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power introduced three people impacted by the refugee crisis to the stage to share their stories and Michelle Obama appeared via satellite video where encouraged the crowd to take action to aid 62 million girls to received a proper education.
