G-Eazy has been hinting at returning to his roots with a follow-up project to his 2011 Endless Summer mixtape, and he has just delivered a taste of what is to come. The “Him & I” rapper teamed up with fellow West Coast native YG for the “Endless Summer Freestyle.”
G-Eazy uses the unorthodox “Neki-Hokey” sample to accentuate his lyrics, “I’m always playing both sides/ Model money, rap money, bags double-sized/ Recognize, yeah, it’s all mine/ Believe I’mma profit off this jawline/ Buying jewelry is getting old.”
Next up comes YG, who shows support for Colin Kaepernick and gives his take on the state of racial relations in the United States. “But wait, my hands up, don’t shoot/ Moment of silence for all the racist shit we going through/ Yeah, going through, going through/ Kap took a knee, they act like he let his gun shoot,” he raps. Eazy retrieves the beat to back the Black Lives Matter movement and pleads with listeners to pay attention to what’s happening across America.
