Yesterday, September 5th, would have been Freddie Mercury‘s 72 birthday. To celebrate, many have decided to look back on the performer’s life and accomplishments.
Born Farrokh Bulsara, Mercury defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet, in part, due to his 4-octave vocal range. Sadly, his life was cut short due to complications from AIDS at the age of 45 years old.
His and Queen’s story will be told by Bohemian Rhapsody, the upcoming 20th Century Fox-produced drama which traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, cementing the legacy of a band that were always more like a family, and who continue to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.
