Ed Sheeran joined James Corden for Tuesday’s Late Late Show installment of “Carpool Karaoke,” belting some of his biggest hits and recounting a hilarious story involving Justin Bieber, alcohol and a golf club.
The “Sorry” singer explained how he wound up at a golf course, where the “Sorry” singer woozily requested him to hit a golf ball out of his mouth. It didn’t go very well. “I was pretty hammered,” Sheeran admitted. “I was like, ‘Focus, focus, focus. You can’t hit him; you can’t hit him; you can’t hit him…I cracked him across the face … He was actually really cool about it, surprisingly. He was like, ‘Oh, bro!’ And just carried on.”
Other than the Bieber incident, Sheeran explained why he doesn’t have a cell phone anymore, why he feels most comfortable while holding a guitar and why he was super nervous about doing the TV show in the first place.
Music-wise, Ed whipped out his guitar for acoustic versions of “Thinking Out Loud,” Bieber’s “Love Yourself,” One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful,” and “Castle on the Hill.” Watch the video below:
