Drake‘s lengthy reign as track king of Spotify has come to an end. “Shape of You,” by Ed Sheeran, has overtaken Drizzy’s “One Dance” as the service’s most-streamed track ever. According to newly updated totals, “Shape of You” has over 1,318,420,396 streams compared to “One Dance” and its 1,317,143,742 plays.
The 26-year-old British singer saw his total catalog soar to more than 10 billion plays on Spotify — earning him roughly $50 million in royalties. Drake, too, has earned roughly $50 million from his Spotify plays, according to estimates. The payout estimate is based on the widely held assumption that each track streamed by Spotify delivers about ¹/₂ cent to the artist.
Only two other tracks can claim more than 1 billion streams from the service: “Closer,” by the Chainsmokers, and “Lean On,” by Major Lazer and DJ Snake.
On Friday, Sheeran released the lyric video for “Perfect,” the official fourth single off Divide.
