Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” just got an ‘80s overhaul, and it is pretty fantastic.

The Tokyo-based producer who created the remix, Initial Talk, was inspired by Stacey Q’s “Two Of Hearts” and really ran with it.

The remix itself is accompanied by a grainy video that looks like it has been run through a VHS too many times. In it, we see footage from a long-ago Miss Teen Canada pageant, the dancing in which, may well be a subtle nod to the slick choreography in the original “New Rules” video.

The producer has a deep dedication to the sounds of the early MTV era.  He has also put an old spin on a string of relatively modern high-charting artists, including Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez.
