According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Drake’s newly-dropped album Scorpion, was certified platinum within 24 hours of its release.

From its drop late on June 29th through the 30th, the Cash Money Records release achieved at least one million units sold. In the era of streaming, units are counted as one album sale, 10 album tracks sold or 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams of album tracks.

The certification comes as no surprise seeing that there are a variety of tracks to listen to on the album (25) and the project broke the single-day record for most streams on any platform, as well as the single-week record for most streams in the U.S. It also helped that Drake did a massive takeover of Spotify on June 30th with almost every playlist adorned with his face to commemorate the release of his album. Understandably, people were engrossed in his music.

Congratulations to Drake for all of his accomplishments over this past week. Listen to Scorpion below.
