Third time’s the charm for Drake and DJ Khaled as they released “To The Max,” today, which features a skittering beat and cut-up female vocals under Drake’s lines about love, loyalty and perseverance. The track is the third to be lifted from Khaled’s newly announced album, Grateful.

“I talk grey, I don’t keep it white and black/ Only say ‘I love you’ just so I can hear it back/ Sometimes, other times I’d love to have you back/ Can’t think of a night that we ain’t turn up to the max/ To the max, no.” These lines are rapped by Drake over a sped-up trap beat that almost feels uncomfortable.

The instrumental isn’t the most radio-friendly, but I like to see producers experimenting with different ideas. Listen to “To the Max” for yourself:

In addition, Khaled has shared details from the forthcoming LP. Grateful will arrive on June 23, with Khaled’s son featured on the cover.
