Arguably 2017’s hottest song, “Despacito,” has hit another milestone in its long history.
After hitting massive numbers on multiple streaming services over the course of the last two years, the song by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee has made the news once again. It was the first video on YouTube to hit 3 billion views, and eventually, the 4th and 5th billion view marks as well. Now it has broken 6,000,000,000.
According to the streaming platform, the original visual (without Justin Bieber) reached the billionaire digit on February 24th after earning 1.9 billion more views than any other video. In addition, the company shared that at its peak, the clip received 25.7 million plays in a single day, and is still averaging 2.8 million views a day so far this year. The track, which comes courtesy of Universal Music, is in good company at the top, and is joined by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s “See You Again” as well as Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You.”
