Though the COVID-19 pandemic has put a hold on most, if not all Gay Pride events and celebrations originally scheduled for the month of June, people will still be able to celebrate online as Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter recently announced their second annual Pride Summit slated for Saturday, June 13th.
The day-long, streaming broadcast will feature conversations about being Gay in different entertainment industries, stressing the importance of representation in music, television, film and more. Among the confirmed talent for the event are Billy Porter, Carlie Hanson, Carson Kressley, Chris Appleton, Cyndi Lauper, Erika Jayne, Hayley Kiyoko, Indigo Girls, Jonica T. Gibbs, Justin Tranter, Kat Cunning, Lauren Jauregui, Lena Waithe, Madame Gandhi, Mary Lambert, Noah Cyrus, and many more.
Following the online panel discussions and conversations, the stream will end with an exciting virtual Pride Prom, complete with performances from queer artists, an interactive DJ set, and a drag exhibition contest to find this year’s Pride Queen. Social media attendees can also tune in earlier to get special tutorials from industry professionals on hair, makeup, and fashion. “Let it be known Pride is not canceled. As the world goes through an unprecedented time, unity is more important now than ever and we’re proud to use the platform of our iconic brands to convene the LGBTQ+ community and celebrate their power and influence” stated Billboard / The Hollywood Reporter Media Group president Deanna Brown.
