Today (Oct. 21), Clean Bandit released thier latest single “Rockabye” on all digital retailers along with a new music video.
The bouncy tropical anthem features vocal assists from Anne-Marie and dancehall don Sean Paul.
“We’ve wanted to work with Sean Paul for a long, long while and it’s a dream that we’ve managed to finally do it,” Clean Bandit told Digital Spy.
And considering Sean Paul’s track record this year with features on chart smashes, Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” and Little Mix’s “Hair,” we can assume “Rockabye” has the same potion for success.
There’s no denying the sonic similarities and lyrical content lifted from Ace of Base’s ’92 hit “All That She Wants,” and we are totally cool with that. With the current wave of trop pop influenced tunes we’ve been consuming the past 2 years, Clean Bandit and co. intuitively harness the nostalgic vibes on “Rockabye”.
The visual tells the story of a young mother who is doing everything she can to make ends meet for her child.
“She just wants a life for her baby / All on her own, no one will come / She’s got to save him (daily struggle),” Anne-Marie coo’s in the first verse. Watch above.
“Rockabye” is the first release from the electronic collective since the absence of violinist Neil Amin-Smith, who announced his departure last week.
Clean Bandit is currently putting the final touches to their second studio album, which is expected to be released in the near future.
Their 2014 single “Rather Be” went platinum and helped to launch vocalist Jess Glynne to solo fame.
