Chester Bennington passed away Thursday (July 20) reportedly committing suicide. He was 41 years old.
Shocked reactions and tributes to the death of the Linkin Park frontman continue to roll in, with friends, fans and fellow musicians including Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, Nikki Six, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Chance the Rapper, Passion Pit, Nile Rodgers, Pusha T, Pete Wentz and Jimmy Kimmel paying respects to the spirited rock star.
“Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true,” wrote Bennington’s bandmate Mike Shinoda. “An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”
“RIP Chester. Tragic ending. Condolences his family and friends and Linkin Park,” tweeted Chance The Rapper.
One of the most touching came from Chester’s hometown baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Before the Dodgers took on the Atlanta Braves, Dodger Stadium organist Dieter Ruehle performed a stirring rendition of the band’s signature 2003 hit “Numb” at the request of a fan on Twitter.
