The Chainsmokers are trying to put out a fire they sparked online.
Over the weekend, the EDM bro duo, which consists of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart, was in Shanghai to perform at Ultra China. On Monday, the band posted a promotional video from their trip to Twitter, Buzzfeed News reports.
In the clip, Pall was asked about touring with his dog and whether or not he’d bring her with him to China.
“I mean if she could come anywhere I’d bring her to — well I don’t know if I’d bring her to China…” he said before he, group Taggart and the interviewer shared a brief laugh.

While the stereotypical joke doesn’t appear to have offended the reporter who was Asian, it set viewers off. Twitter users quickly shared their reactions to the video, which has since been deleted.
Pall and Alex have since apologized with a statement on Twitter. “We would never intentionally do anything to upset our fans and we apologize if it offended anyone,” the statement reads.
