22 year old producer Electric Mantis released his EP, Braincase, a mere sixteen days back and it has since garnered significant attention. Raking in hundreds of thousands of plays on Soundcloud, the five-track showcase is already a proven success for the Portland, Oregon based artist. And ‘RoseCity’, the fourth song listed on the mini-album, brilliantly exposes airy nuances to the bass-filled record.
Given his immense creativity and sound (that contains remnants of Flume’s signature style) Electric Mantis is, surprisingly, as yet unsigned. Regardless, this multi-single release is destined for greater things and will bring his career to the next checkpoint.

The 50th release on Nicky Romero’s imprint Protocol Recordings goes to talent himself with ‘Lighthouse’, a progressive pop single with a very infectious vocal.
Romero’s summery solo production will be available on June 29th and shows a more radio-friendly side to the Dutch DJ turned remixer turned producer turned artist turned record label entrepreneur. And on this original offering Nicky even incorporates an acoustic guitar which provides the listener with a sunset feel and a low-key presence.
Over the weekend, Nicky Romero performed at EDC Las Vegas along with dad (perhaps for Father’s Day) who WAS sporting a Nicky Romero t-shirt.
Watch this space for the Protocol release!

Forever standing her ground, pop superstar Taylor Swift remains one of the most respected and beloved talents at, both, the industry and consumer levels and she recently convinced Apple Music to pay artists for streaming during their customer’s free three-month trial.
How did she convince them?
On Sunday morning, Taylor wrote a letter to Apple Music via her Tumblr page explaining why she’d be holding back her album, 1989, from the streaming service and said it was “completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company” to not pay artists during the customer’s free three month trial of the subscription-based platform. Her public letter said the following:

On Friday, May 25th at Webster Hall, New York native Pierce Fulton was headlining the Grand Ballroom and on stage to support him was his good friend Ansel Elgort.
Best known for his leading roles in the ‘Insurgent‘ and ‘The Fault In Our Stars‘ films Ansel crossed over into dance music as Ansolo in 2013 and has been eager to make significant strides in that area ever since.
Fulton and Elgort have built a strong friendship and near the end of his late-May DJ set they made an exciting announcement . Ansel and Pierce stood side by side when they let the crowd know that they were starting a duo called ‘Shirts & Skins‘. They subsequently debuted their first remix (which can be heard below) and the motto for their initial offering is ‘Sexy House Music Is Back’.

Man of many talents, Grammy Award winning artist, writer, producer, composer, arranger, and guitarist, Nile Rodgers has just announced the this year’s FOLD festival line up.
The second in a series of New York procured live music events, Rodgers latest installment will be held at the Vineyards in Riverhead, Long Island, New York on August 4 and August 5.
This year’s FOLD confab – aka Freak Out Let’s Dance – presents a stellar line up of cross sectional talent including Beck, Chaka Khan, Chuck D, Duran Duran, Eric B., Grandmaster Flash, Janelle Monáe, Keith Urban, Paloma Faith, Pharrell Williams, Q-Tip, Slander, and many more. Each day’s music kicks off at 6pm, ends at 11pm and ticket prices range from $137 for general admission up to $999 for Ultra VIP attendees.
Leave it up to Nile Rodgers to put together such a massive line up of who’s who talent including a myriad of artists featured on his co-produced Daft Punk album, Randon Access Memories, and on his soon-to-be released CHIC ft Nile Rodgers full length It’s About Time on Warner Bros. Records.
Another jewel in the crown of Ash Pournouri’s (Avicii’s manager) empire, Cazzette has just released ‘Together’, the first single from his forthcoming Desserts EP.
The vocally-driven record features the pipes of Newtimers, whose delivery seems somewhat pitched down for a more racially ambiguous effect. Cazzette comes in strong with a poppy future house lead line, a la ‘Gecko‘ by Oliver Heldens or ‘Intoxicated‘ by Martin Solveig. And be sure to check out the music video for this title that features professional soccer players SkillTwins.

In a rather interesting move, Cedric Gervais (perhap best known for his progressive remix of ‘Summertime Sadness‘ by Lana Del Rey), teams up with one of his favorite (Latin) artists.
Gervais’ recently worked with Colombian superstar Juanes – who’s sold 15 million+ albums worldwide – on a new record called ‘Este Amor’ (or ‘This Love’ for our non-Spanish speaking fans) and the final product is a high-powered anthem with universal appeal and multi-market cross over potential.
Since Cedric’s hit with Lana, his name’s been rather quiet in the United States, which is why going after the South American territory is a very interesting strategic move for his brand. Keep a close eye (and ear) on the growth of this record as PRO MOTION feels this one could be a left field hit.

Often times referred to as ‘the godfather of electronic music’, French composer Jean Michel Jarre is best known for his 1976, 12 million selling album, Oxygène. Three years later, the artiste performed to a crowd of one million plus at the Place de la Concorde, an attendance record he has since broken three times.
Clearly a living legend, Jarre recently collaborated with fellow Frenchman, Anthony Gonzalez of M83 on a track called ‘Glory’. And when deciding on who should remix the joint venture, Jean handpicked Swedish superstar Steve Angello to provide the post production treatment.
In the Soundcloud song description it states:
“Angello lives up to the task, enhancing the single with subtle fades that add depth to the already powerful track. Coupled with an increased speed and a more pronounced beat towards the end, the track grows with an explosive force.”
We hope you enjoy the international production by these three brilliant musical minds.

Major Lazer’s album, Peace Is The Mission, is a star-studded project that’s been released on Diplo’s imprint Mad Decent.
The record includes features from 2 Chainz, DJ Snake, Ellie Goulding and more and one of the most popular tracks on the LP would have to be ‘All My Love’ featuring Machel Montano and the über-popular Ariana Grande.
While Diplo stays true to his modern dancehall sound he has successfully ushered his name and style into the mainstream music fray. Of course having Ariana Grande on a track ups the ante and the reggae base to ‘All My Love’ is splashed with tribal and animalistic elements that strangely compliment Ariana’s voice in a wonderful way.
