Teen cancer survivor Calysta Bevier blew away the judges on America’s Got Talent with her inspiring cover of “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten.
Calysta Bevier survived stage-3 ovarian cancer at just the age of 16. She stepped onto the stage of America’s Got Talent to inspire others facing tough challenges: “I kind of came here today to show people that, no matter what you’ve gone through, to keep chasing your dreams,” Bevier explained before her performance.
Less than a minute after she began to sing, the young survivor was surprised with a standing ovation from the audience, and Simon Cowell followed suit. Once she had finished belting out her emotional rendition of the song, Simon gushed over Bevier’s performance and the teen herself. “I love everything about you… your spirit, your choice of song, your voice.” He sees a bright future for Bevier: “Great things are going to happen to you,” he said.
Cowell subsequently pressed the gold buzzer, automatically granting Calysta a spot in the next round.
