Calvin Harris joins Rag’n’Bone Man for their soulful “Giant” that secures this week’s #5 Breakout slot on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. It is the “One Kiss” producer’s most recent project, following his work with Normani.
The Columbia Records-released song has a powerful message about standing tall when the going gets tough with lyrics “I understood loneliness before I knew what it was/I saw the pills on the table for your unrequited love/I would be nothing without you holding me up/Now I’m strong enough for both of us.” The vocals are backed by a catchy but evocative production courtesy of the Grammy-winning dance club DJ/producer/artist.
With the Emil Nava-directed visual, the package paints the picture of a young man carrying the weight of the world while helping his mother struggle with a serious illness. The boy remains sturdy through his mother’s health-related troubles, but finds freedom and relief in music and nature. He fights through his day as fellow UK native Rag’n’Bone Man cries into the rainy sky with his rich baritone voice, all the while, Harris finds his inner woodsman.
