Bruno Mars’ released his third studio album 24K Magic today (Nov. 18), and the singer stopped by 60 Minutes to talk a little bit about his early beginnings that shaped his stardom.
In the a preview clip, Mars took host Lara Logan to the house where he grew up in Hawaii’s Paradise Park. The “Grenade” crooner showed Logan around the now-abandoned property, recalling how he, his father and brother would all share one bed. Even so, he also noted that this period of his life was “the best.”
“We had it all. We had each other and it never felt like it was the end of the world,” Mars said. “‘It’s alright we don’t got electric today. It’s alright, it’s temporary,’ saying, ‘Well, we going to figure this out.’” He continued, “Maybe that’s why I have this mentality when it comes to the music. Because I know I’m going to figure it out, just give me some time.”

According to Rolling Stone Mars wanted the album to recreate the nostalgic wonder of the school dances he attended in the Nineties.
