Just after Warner Bros. announced that the studio acquired Bruce Springsteen‘s concert documentary, Western Stars, its first official trailer was dropped Monday (August 19th).

Directed by Springsteen himself and Grammy Award winner Thom Zimny, the film will feature a performance of The Boss’s latest album of the same name in his historic barn, driven by narration and archival videos. The trailer is definitely cinematic, piecing together beautiful shots of the American West with footage of a contemplative Springsteen as he speaks on themes of love, loss and regret.

“I’ve spent 35 years learning how to let go of the destructive parts of my character,” Springsteen says in the preview. “We all have our broken pieces. Emotionally, spiritually, in this life – no one gets away unhurt.” See the first visual from the upcoming Western Stars film that is slated for release sometime in October, below.

August has been an exciting month for the New Jersey native as his other film, Blinded by the Light, hit theaters just days ago on August 16th.
