On Wednesday (7.26,) Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles filed for divorce from her actor husband Richard Lawson, after eight years of marriage.
According to several sources, the 69-year old Knowles listed Tuesday (7.26) as their official date of separation and cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the divorce.
Part of the businesswoman’s filing also requested the court not to award her or her estranged husband any spousal support and to restore her name to Celestine Knowles.
Tina and Richard began dating in 2013 and got married in April of 2015 on a yacht in Newport Beach, California.
Fans of the elder Knowles started separation rumors after Tina changed her Instagram bio back to Tina Knowles. The fashion designer and movie star had also not appeared on each other’s social media feeds since March.
Prior to Lawson, Tina was married to Mathew Knowles from1980 to 2011, with whom she shares two daughters; Beyoncé, 41, and Solange, 37.
Richard was married to Denise Gordy from 1978 to 1989, with whom he shares his actress daughter Bianca Lawson, and he is also the father of Grammy-nominated music executive Ricky Lawson.
