As part of an opulent weeks-long celebration of the wedding between two billionaire families which featured appearances from movie star Shah Rukh Khan and Hillary Clinton, Beyoncé was the main attraction.
The event, which had been months in the making, started in September with an engagement party for Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal at a lakeside Italian palace where videos shot by partiers showed world leaders among other celebrities dancing together in traditional garb.
Some believe that the highlight of the whole lead-up to today’s (December 12th) ceremony was the multiple Grammy winner’s performance where she sang “Crazy In Love,” among other hits with a band while featuring a series of costume changes that included at least one India-inspired outfit. “Beyoncé Lights Up Udaipur,” the Times of India shouted in a Tuesday (December 11th) headline. Footage of the set can be seen below.
Among India’s rich, weddings are displays of almost unimaginable wealth, with guests flown in on chartered jets from around the world and celebrities paid hundreds of thousands of dollars for brief appearances. The former Destiny’s Child member was rumored to have been paid $6 million.
