Taking a personal interest in the COVID-19 pandemic, Beyoncé is planning to host a mobile testing site in her home town. Coming to Houston, Texas, May 8th and 9th, the superstar will make kits and other basic supplies available for those in need.
Sponsored by the artist’s BeyGOOD foundation and the “Formation” singer’s mother Ms. Tina Knowles Lawson, the event will provide 1,000 test kits, face masks, gloves, vitamins, and household supplies to Houstonians. In a time when these resources are in high demand, The Queen is bringing the community together for a good cause. “The virus is wreaking havoc on the Black community so we need a movement to prioritize our health,” Knowles Lawson said in a statement. “It is critical that we stay vigilant with social distancing, wearing a mask, and most of all getting tested.”
The BeyGOOD organization also recently launched a relief fund for essential workers and others affected by the COVID-19 outbreak and the 38-year-old Grammy winner also donated $6 million of her own money to the fund. In addition, proceeds from the recently-released Beyoncé and Megan Thee Stallion collab “Savage (Remix)” will benefit Bread of Life Houston’s COVID-19 relief efforts.
